Our graduates always tell us their time at Marianopolis had a profound influence on their personal and professional lives, whether it be from making life-long friendships to discovering new passions and interests.
Members of our community often wish to establish scholarships that honour the faculty and staff who inspired them, or highlight a field of study that is particularly important to them.
The Marianopolis Millennium Foundation – the registered charity that provides funds for the College’s bursaries and scholarships – is happy to highlight the generous donations from alumni, parents and friends which help make our financial support to students among the most generous in the Quebec college network.
The College is proud to announce two new entrance scholarships and five new awards for graduating students.
New Entrance Scholarships
Lynx Global Biodiversity Fund Scholarship
The scholarship was established by Marianopolis graduate Stephen Takacsy ’77 who wanted to give back to the College while promoting the importance of environmental sustainability in the investment management sector. Mr. Takacsy also serves as the Vice-Chair of The Marianopolis Millennium Foundation Board of Directors. The Lynx Global Biodiversity Fund recognizes an incoming Social Science student in the Commerce concentration who demonstrates a strong interest in the areas of investment management and environmental sustainability.
Rosefellow Real Estate Scholarship
The scholarship was established through Mike Jager, partner at Rosefellow and inspired by Marianopolis graduate John Papagiannis ’04, Secretary of The Marianopolis Millennium Foundation Board of Directors. The Rosefellow Real Estate Scholarship supports an incoming student with a strong academic record who demonstrates an interest in real estate or a related field.
New Scholarships for Graduating Students
Lesley Lacate Scholarship
The scholarship was established by graduate Sacha Haque ’98, former Chair of The Marianopolis Millennium Foundation, to recognize the tremendously positive impact late Marianopolis counseling psychologist Lesley Lacate had on a great number of students over the course of her 30 + year career at the College. The Lesley Lacate Scholarship recognizes a graduating student who demonstrates community involvement, strength in overcoming adversity and compassion and generosity with their peers.
Mark Chartrand Law Scholarship
The scholarship was established by Marianopolis graduate Mark Chartrand ’79 and inspired by the guidance and support he received from former Marianopolis Philosophy and Humanities professor Christine Overall as he prepared to transition from the College to McGill University’s Faculty of Law. The Mark Chartrand Law Scholarship recognizes a graduating student who makes the jump from Marianopolis directly to a university law faculty in Ontario or Quebec.
Sister Françoise Boisvert Scholarship
The scholarship was established by Sister Boisvert’s former students, colleagues and other members of our community who wanted to honour her contribution to the field of education in Quebec, notably as Director General of the College, after she passed away last year at the age of 86. The Sister Françoise Boisvert Scholarship recognizes an outstanding graduating student engaged in community service and pursuing a university degree in education or an associated field.
Sarafidis Family Scholarship for Excellence in Engineering
The scholarship was established by Marianopolis graduate Gina Montillet ’82 to honour her parents Alexandros and Asimenia Sarafidis, who placed great value in the power of education and encouraged her to pursue her studies at the College. The Sarafidis Family Scholarship for Excellence in Engineering recognizes a graduating student enrolled in a university engineering program in Quebec.
Emilia Rosa Scholarship for Applied Arts
The scholarship was established by a Marianopolis employee who wanted to honour her grandmother who had a great impact on her and the lives of others. The Emilia Rosa Scholarship for Applied Arts recognizes a graduating student who will pursue university studies in an applied arts discipline.
