Honours Pure and Applied Science
Exploring the foundations of knowledge to push to frontiers of innovation
The Honours Pure and Applied Science profile allows you to go beyond the regular Pure and Applied Science stream within a stimulating and enriching framework of courses and activities. Being an Honours student gives you an edge when you apply to university. You can apply directly into this Honours profile on your Marianopolis application, and, if you change your mind, you can easily transfer into the regular Pure and Applied Science stream after any semester or even switch into Honours Health Science.
WHO IS THE PROFILE FOR?
This profile is intended for the most motivated and high-achieving students who are looking to cultivate their passion and talent for the Pure and Applied Sciences. As an Honours student you will need to maintain minimum averages of 82 % overall and 87 % in Math and Science courses at the College.
WHERE DOES IT LEAD?
Honours Pure and Applied Science at Marianopolis gives you an edge for university studies in Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics and Physics, among other disciplines.
PROFILE HIGHLIGHTS
Compete in Math and Science competitions. Attend Honours seminars with interactive lectures by renowned scientists. Visit cutting-edge labs. Participate in Science fairs at the local, national and international levels. These are just some of the amazing opportunities that await you in Honours Pure and Applied Science at Marianopolis.
As an Honours student, a minimum of three courses out of your 12 required Science courses will be enriched. These enriched courses give you the opportunity to learn extra topics beyond the regular syllabus. Though you will learn the material in greater depth, you will take the same final exam as the regular Science students. You can include in your university applications an official document from the College certifying that you have successfully completed enriched courses.
And when it comes time to complete your Épreuve Synthèse de Programme (Comprehensive Program Assessment) during your last semester in order to graduate, you will work under the supervision and guidance of a dedicated faculty mentor on what we call an Honours Science Project.
